Chris Parkin resignation

It is with great regret and much sadness that BT Leeds Angling club has received the resignation of Chris Parkin as the club bailiff / representative.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for all his hard work, time, determination and devotion he has given to this angling club.

The reasons for Chris’s resignation have been detailed in his letter and a lot had to do with the general apathy of Leeds City Council and the police, but one of the main reasons (I believe) is down to the general behaviour of some of our own members who are not abiding by the rules of this club.  Chris is too much of a gentleman to tell me the full details of what transpired last Friday and Saturday night at the pond where many members were night fishing and some issues occurred resulting in many phone calls being made to Chris, totally ruining his anniversary and birthday weekend.

Chris has arranged a none emergency contact telephone number for the local police teams to attend any poaching incidents at the pond, but the whole point is that the persons fishing have to ring and report and give details of numbers of poachers, exact locations etc , not ring Chris and  expect him to do it.

The rules of this club states quite clearly NO FIRES.  It must be fairly obvious to any idiot why this rule has to apply, yet many of our members are having fires while night fishing.  Unfortunately I don’t know for certain yet who these people are, but anyone identified will have their membership cancelled and the question of whether to allow night fishing will be asked.

Can I also ask that members of the general public walking around the pond be treated with respect and not abused, even if their dogs are being a pest..
